Third-person worker

The camera follows a life-size worker through the steel, so you find out whether headroom and access work by actually walking them.

• —Front flip on a running jump, back flip from standing, double jump in mid-air
• —Press F at a column to climb, vault onto the beam at the top and walk along it — step off and you fall
• —Hit your head on a beam? Press Z to crouch under it. Or grab a jetpack
• —Stamina and health included; everyone in the model can see you

Drive the crane

Based on a 90-tonne all-terrain crane's load chart, so you can try out positions, boom length and radius right in the model.

• —Slew, luff, telescope and lower the hook, one control at a time
• —Stow the outriggers and drive off; arrow keys steer the front wheels
• —Stops when it hits the building; boom and hook turn red when they touch steel
• —Swing the hook into a worker and they get knocked aside — don't try this on site

Command mode, RTS-style

Press G: click or shift-drag to select workers, right-click the ground to send them there or fly them up onto the steel; select the crane to drive it. There's a minimap, and with the camera locked the view scrolls when the mouse hits the screen edge.
